PROFINET is an open industrial Ethernet communication standard for industrial applications such as factory, production and process automation. It enables data communication with deterministic cycle times and therefore in real time. PROFIsafe is the protocol for safe data transmission for PROFINET and fulfils SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.
